Michael "Belushi" Dan Kolsrud, 70, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following a tough battle with kidney and heart failure. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth St., Vinton. The family requests those attending dress casually. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Shellsburg. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established. Michael Dan Kolsrud was born July 18, 1948, in Urbana, to Earl H. and Grace E. (Lint) Kolsrud. He attended Shellsburg schools and was later united in marriage to Frances J. Young on Sept. 24, 1966. They enjoyed 49 years of marriage together. Frances preceded him in death on Jan. 11, 2016. "Belushi" worked at Farmstead for 27 years and Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids for 10 years.
In his leisure, he loved to hunt for morel mushrooms, ride his Harley, play cribbage, participate in pool league and hunt deer. He also enjoyed tinkering with his many clocks.
"Belushi" is survived by his children, Scott (Deb Hefner) Kolsrud of Cedar Rapids, Michele Kolsrud of Cedar Rapids, Melissa (Brad) Madison of Norway and Stacy (Nathan) Stoneking of Hiawatha; four grandchildren, Felicia, Sebastien, Kyle and Hunter; step-grandson, Michael Hefner; six great-grandchildren, Emma, Corbin, Serena, Niko, Jackson and Leo; and brothers, Jerry (Marilyn) Kolsrud of Shellsburg and Larry Kolsrud of Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Frances.
"Belushi" will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.
