Michael Alan Novotny, 61, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In agreement with his wishes, cremation has taken place.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, where the family will greet friends an hour prior to service. Inurnment will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.
Michael was born on Feb. 10, 1961, the son of Richard and Betty (Ness) Novotny. He enjoyed his time working for Options, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and visiting Camp Courageous every year. Michael had the greatest love for animals, anything with four legs was his best friend, especially all the family dogs. He loved Christmas lights so much, he wanted to see them year-round. Michael will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Michael is survived and lovingly remembered by his siblings, Becky Dotson of Marion and Scott Novotny (Cherie Wadden) of Cedar Rapids; three nieces, Melanie (Joe) Long, Jessica Novotny and Nicole (Chris) Zilinger; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Betty; and brother, Mark Novotny.
