Meyers, Emil A.
Emil A. Meyers, 75, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, July 24, 2011, in St. Luke's Hospital. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories by the Rev. William B. Harnish. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the chapel.
Survivors include his children, Loreen (Paul) Boots, Jim Meyers, Dennis (Janice) Meyers, all of Cedar Rapids, and Sharon (Larry) Eister of Tiffin; a sister, Margaret Behrens of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Emil was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; his parents, William and Lillian; brothers, William Jr., Donald and Emery; and a sister, Leona.
Emil was born August 14, 1935, in Cedar Rapids, the son of William and Lillian Boots Meyers. He married Shirley Armitage on Jan. 4, 1955, in Iowa City, Iowa. Emil was a supervisor for the Cedar Rapids Water Department. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bingo and was an avid Cubs fan.
