Peter Neman Meyer, 74, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 11, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Visitation: 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 10, at the funeral home in Marion. Burial: Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello.

Peter was born Aug. 2, 1937, in Monticello, Iowa, the son of Neman “Bud” and Vera Meyer. He married Doris Pringle of Springville, Iowa. He worked for Cramer Bros. Construction and later operated White Birch Resort in Blackduck, Minn., with his wife Doris.

Peter loved playing cards, hunting, fishing, and helping others.

Peter is survived by his children, Jeff (Mary) Meyer, Macon, Ill., Dan (Sharon) Meyer, Wilmette, Ill., and Julie (Don) Gates, Central City; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, Orville Meyer, Anamosa; and two sisters, Arva Brockhohn, Springville, and Ruth Ann Collins, Viola.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Neman Meyer.
