Mersch, Katherine 'Kay' Pearl
Katherine “Kay” Pearl Mersch, 76, of Marion, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following a short illness. Funeral services: noon Monday, Nov. 1, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, by the Rev. Del Bear. Family will greet friends after 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Masonville, at a later date.
Survivors include her sister, Polly (Lynn) Hudecek of Cedar Rapids; many cousins; and her dog, Lucy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and stepmother, Daphine Mersch.
Kay was born Jan. 19, 1934, in Masonville, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth Mersch and Cathryn Diggins. She received her R.N. degree from Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids and worked as an office nurse for Doctors Ingle and Conkling, General Surgeons, for over 30 years.
She greatly loved the eight dogs she had over the past 50 years.
