MERLIN MATTESON

Merlin Dean Matteson, 78, of Independence, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.
Merlin is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ann; two children, Steven (Kathleen) Matteson, Independence, and Susan (Shane) Sissel, Ladora; seven grandchildren; and a brother, Melvin (Kay) Matteson, Winthrop.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Marcia Barske Wiese.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, with the Rev. Mike Nemmers officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Rose Hill Cemetery, Lamoni. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
