Merle "MJ" Meyers, 91, died Monday, July 7, 2014, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of
Mercy in Hiawatha. Private family services will be at a later date at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Certified Celebrant Jim Parton will officiate at the service. Entombment will be at Cedar Memorial Mausoleum at a later date.
Surviving are his son, Butch (Jeanne) of Central City; three grandchildren, Jason (Jill), Chad and T.J.; two great-grandchildren, Jayden and Chloe; extended family, Steve and Karen Weigant and Linda Meyer; and his extended family in Brainerd, Minn.: Greg and Sissy Praska and their children, Henry, Charlie and Bruce.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Gretchen; and a brother, Raymond.
Merle was born April 17, 1923, in Mingo, Iowa, the son of Sam and Myrtle Meyers. Merle worked as a salesman his entire life.
He was a member of the American Legion and VFW in Brainerd, Minn.
