MERCEDES "SADIE" FAITH VAN SLYKE

Mercedes "Sadie" Faith Van Slyke, 18, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 19, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. A private family service will be held.
Sadie was born Aug. 12, 1999, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Mark Van Slyke and Melissa Robinson. She enjoyed the outdoors and spending time at Palisades Park. Sadie also enjoyed listening to music, coloring, doing puzzles and cooking, but mostly enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
She is survived by her mother, Melissa Robinson (Chris Mahia); sister, Allyson Van Slyke; brother, Anthony Van Slyke; grandmother, Ann Squires; grandfather, Brian Squires; great-grandfather, Don Bennett; great-grandparents, Freda and James Robinson; aunt, Jessica (Scott) Robinson; uncles, Gavin and Zach Squires; and great-aunt, Mary (Alex) Hatfield and their daughter, Lorraine.
Sadie was preceded in death by her father, Mark Van Slyke; grandfather, James Robinson; great-grandmother, Kathy Bennett; and great-grandfather, Rick Morehouse.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Sadie's memory.
