Mensing, Victor D.
Victor D. Mensing, 92, of Lowden, died March 21, 2012, at the Wheatland Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lowden, by the Rev. Victor Young. Burial: Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland.
Born Oct. 30, 1919, in Lowden, Iowa, the son of Deitrich and Ella (Kruckenburg) Mensing, he married Marian Licht on Sept. 26, 1948, in Lowden. She died Sept. 22, 2009.
Victor was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 366 in Lowden and was a World War II Army veteran. Victor was one of the original founders of the 3/30 Golf and Country Club in Lowden and also the Lowden Memorial Ballpark. He started Lowden Plumbing and Heating in 1948 and worked until the day he died.
Survivors include two sons, Dick (JoAnn) of Lowden and Mark (Jacquelyn) of Franklin, Ind.; daughter, Julie Einck of Dubuque; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and three sisters, Myrna Magoon of Bettendorf, Luanna Nelson of Los Angeles, Calif., and Gladys Mundt of Chandler, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
