Mengler, Carol E.
Carol E. Mengler, 46, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memoires. The Rev. Carroll Brown will officiate, with private family burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include her husband, J. Mengler of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Elisha Mengler of Cedar Rapids; son, Philip Mengler of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Landen, Jaydon and Anthony Mengler; mother, Dixie Van Dorn of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Sharon Eberle of Cedar Rapids and Nancy Jensen of Huron, S.D.; and one brother, Gary Van Dorn of Denver, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her father, William K. Van Dorn.
Carol was born Nov. 22, 1963, in Iowa City, the daughter of William and Dixie (Gantz) Van Dorn. She married J. Mengler on Sept. 1, 1984, in Cedar Rapids. Carol most recently worked at Raining Rose Inc. of Cedar Rapids and for CCB Packaging Inc. of Hiawatha. Carol was a fun, adventurous, outgoing leader who was always willing to help anyone in need. She enjoyed fishing, collecting M&M memorabilia, loved her friends, family and especially her grandchildren.
The Mengler family would like to express a special thank you to Carol's co-workers and friends at Raining Rose Inc. for their friendship to Carol and for their help during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
