Melvin E. Powell, 62, formerly of Cedar Rapids and Kansas Highway Patrol motorist assist technician, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2015, in Wichita, Kan.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin A. and Eugena F. Powell; and sister, Barbara Ysidro-Byers.
Survivors include his wife, April P. Powell; children, Summer Gerhardus (Raul), Clint Powell (Sasha) and Danielle Bass (Brad); grandchildren, Kylie (Dominic), Marissa, Kayla, Katelyn, April, Haley, Raul, Kaci, Jacob, Madi and Wyatt; and sister, Tammy Powell.
Family visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, at Broadway Mortuary, 1147 S. Broadway, Wichita, Kan. Memorial service: 10 a.m. Thursday, July 16, Immanuel Baptist Church Worship Center, 1415 S. Topeka, Wichita, Kan.
