Melvin D. Noe, 88, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018, at his residence following an extended illness. Private family graveside services with military rites conducted by Iowa Military Funeral Honors will be held at the Garrison Cemetery. There will be no public visitation or service.
Melvin was born Sept. 20, 1929, in Garrison to Cecil and Anna (Banse) Noe.
He served his nation in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He married Donna Dahms on Aug. 16, 1969, in Garrison. Melvin and Donna enjoyed couples bowling. Donna preceded him in death in 1990.
Melvin was a great Iowa farmer in the Garrison area prior to his retirement. His favorite time of year was spring calving.
He is survived by his son, John (Ronda) Welper of Vinton; two daughters, LaDonn (Dave) Nelson of Mount Auburn and Gaylene (Mark) Rambo of Newhall; grandchildren, Amber (Eric) Welper, Cory (Katelyn) Welper, Mariah (Bob) Wittenberg, Cody Wittenberg, Jessica Rambo, Sonya Rambo, Jeffrey (Tiffany) Butler Jr., Caleb Butler and Olivia Butler; great-grandchildren, Cael, Emrey, Greyson, Hudson, Landon, Hailey and Jeffrey III; his brother, Harley (Karen) Noe of Marion; and two sisters, LaVonne (John) Jillison of Marion, and Myra Klopping of Vinton.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Howard and LeRoy.
