Melvin "Bud" Brickley, 91, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017, at UnityPoint Hospice, Cedar Rapids, after a sudden illness.
A celebration of Bud's life will be held at a later date. He will be interred in Riverside Cemetery with military honors.
Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, has been entrusted with his care and services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Anamosa VFW or Anamosa American Legion and sent to Goettsch Funeral Home or to his son, Terry, at 100 N. Oak St., Anamosa, Iowa.
Surviving are four children, Tom Brickley of Puerto Escondido, Mexico, Terry (Loretta) Brickley of Anamosa, Teresa (Dan) Null of Elkhart, Ind., and Jed (Marla) Brickley of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren, Jack Brickley, Stephen (Ashley) Brickley, Moni Null and Damon Null; and his sister, Rosalie Brickley Shada of Anamosa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Lloyd (Doris) Brickley and Richard (Florence) Brickley; and a grandson, Thomas Brickley Gibson.
Melvin Edward Brickley was born Aug. 26, 1925, in Anamosa, Iowa, the son of Delbert and Blanche Merritt Brickley. Bud graduated from Anamosa community schools. He then went on to serve in the U.S. Army during World War II, with the 104th Calvary in the European Theater. Upon his return home, he was owner/operator of Bud Brickley Truck Line from 1947 until his retirement. He was married to Anna Stimpson; they later divorced. Bud participated in the American Legion and the Anamosa veterans groups.
