Melvin Arnold, 98, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, at Buchanan County Health Center in Independence. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at Church of Christ United, Winthrop. Burial: Fremont Township Cemetery north of Winthrop. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop and after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
Survivors include his two sons, James (Shirley) Arnold of Aurora and Robert Arnold of Somerville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, James Jr. (Sheri) Arnold of Independence, Scott (Angie) Arnold of Altoona, Michael Hawkins of California, James (Meshell) Hawkins of Independence, Christine (John) Kerkove of Independence, Sue (Ron) Hoefer of Masonville and Melanie (Jerry) Carmichael of Maryland; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and his sister, Donna Lillie of Independence.
