Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday and at the chapel after 10 a.m. Monday.
Marie was born July 13, 1925, in Iowa City. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids and in 1945, married the love of her life, Marvin L. Melsha. They had two sons, Marvin and Steven. Marie was an instructor at Young School of Beauty and a secretary with Cedar Rapids Schools until her retirement.
Marie and Marv were blessed to share 60 years together, especially their last 20. They visited family and friends all over the country, spending several winters in Florida and bringing love, laughter, help and support wherever they went. After losing Marv in 2005, Marie volunteered in pastoral care at St. Luke's Hospital, where she enjoyed giving care as she had been cared for during Marv's time there.
She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
The family who will miss her the most are her sons, Marv Jr. (Mary) of Bluffton, S.C., and Steve (Jan) of Des Moines; grandchildren, Mark Melsha (Michelle) of Charlotte, N.C., Scott Melsha (Sheri) of Rock Hill, S.C., Elizabeth Condon (Thomas) of Chicago and Caroline Miros (Marco) of Kansas City, Kan. “Bubbe” also will be missed by her great-grandchildren, Brooke Melsha, Andrew and Amelia Melsha, Trip, Lauren and Liam Condon and Emmy Grace and John Miros. Marie is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Colony; sister-in-law, Carol Upah; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marv; parents, Frank and Ella Nosek; stepfather, Rudy Lamos; two brothers, Dale and Paul Nosek; and two great-grandchildren, Teddy and Alex Miros.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Central Iowa.
