Melody K. Fawl, 69, of Olathe, Kan., died of cancer Monday, Oct. 30, 2017. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Ely, Iowa, with luncheon to follow.
Melody is survived by her nieces, Tina (Dave) Kearns and Jenn (Roy) Rambo; nephew, Chris Worley; sister-in-law, Shirley Worley; stepsons, Brad and Jim Fawl; step-granddaughter; Erin Fawl; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Morgan, Dalton, Paige, Jordan, Mason and Eliza.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Fawl; parents, John and Kathryn Worley (Arnold); and brother, Page Worley.
Melody was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on April 28, 1948. She graduated from Prairie High School in 1966 and received a B.S. degree in mass communications from Kansas State, where she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. After college, she taught English for the Department of Defense in Japan and worked for the Stars and Stripes newspaper. Melody entered a lifelong career in medical sales before starting her own company, Medical Sales Associates, and later took over Chair Lift, a company owned by her husband, Bill.
Melody was gracious and welcoming and treated everyone as family. She loved keeping her mind sharp with crossword and Sudoku puzzles and hosting gatherings with friends and family.
