Melissa Ann "Missy" Davis, 43, of Tipton, died suddenly Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Visitation will be Saturday, Jan. 3, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton, and Sunday, Jan. 4, from 1 to 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Tipton. Funeral services for Melissa will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Melissa was born Nov. 28, 1971, the daughter of Harold "Red" and Ferris (Nebergall) Davis in Davenport, Iowa. She graduated from Tipton High School and went on to earn her A.A. degree from Kirkwood Community College in early childhood development. Missy worked as a childcare provider at Tipton's Tiger Club, worked alongside her mother in the Tipton school lunch program, and provided in-home childcare.
On July 2, 2005, Missy exchanged vows with the love of her life, Scott Barber.
Missy was a member of Tipton's First United Methodist Church and the Tipton Library Book Club. She enjoyed reading, watching movies, listening to music and camping, particularly sitting around the campfire, talking to friends.
Missy is survived by her parents, Red and Ferris Davis of Tipton; husband, Scott Barber of Tipton; sisters, Bernie Fulmer (Fred Fevold) of Coralville and Dawn L. Davis of Monticello; nephews, Brandon Martin of Cedar Rapids and Justin Martin of Monticello; and "adopted nephew," Sam Jordan-Allen of Tipton.
Missy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Harold B. Davis Sr., Betty J. Davis, Elaine Nebergall and Jerald and Velma Nebergall.
