MELISSA ABIGAIL DAVIDSON

Melissa Abigail Davidson, 61, of Springville, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City, following complications from injuries suffered in an auto accident on July 18. The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2018, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2018, at the United Methodist Church in Springville, of which she was a member. The Revs. Sue-Ellen G. Sherman and Lynn Furrow will officiate. Burial will follow at the Springville Cemetery.
Melissa was born Nov. 6, 1956, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of George and Wilma (Coats) Gould. After graduating high school, Melissa became a computer operator in the United States Army. In 1989, Melissa married John Leslie Davidson in Springville. She was employed at Nash Finch and Vigortone as a computer operator. During the late 1990s, Melissa returned to school and earned her nursing degree from Kirkwood Community College. She then worked as a registered nurse for Physicians' Clinic of Iowa and Mount Vernon Family Medicine. She enjoyed volunteering, reading, animals, scrapbooking and traveling. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
Melissa is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 29 years, John L. Davidson of Springville; three daughters, Stacy (Jesse) Burns of Marion, Kristen (Christopher) Ward of Cedar Rapids and Sarah (Drake) Austin of Marion; six grandchildren, Alyse and Soren Burns, Anastasia, Olivia and Alexis Ward and Camden Austin; brother, Michael Gould of Denver, Colo.; sister, Deborah (Tom) Hilleary of Portland, Ore.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, George Gould; mother, Wilma Olson; and stepfather, Richard Olson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Melissa's name to a favorite charity of the donor's choice.
