Melick, Laura Leigh

Laura Leigh Melick, 54, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, June 7, 2013, peacefully in her home after a long battle with breast cancer. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church. Father David Beckman will be officiating. Burial will be held at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Entrusted with the arrangements is Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

She is survived by her loving husband, Bruce Melick; her four children, Shandra, Shelby, Dayne and Kayla Melick, all of Cedar Rapids; her parents, Michael and Marietta Kelly of Cedar Rapids; and siblings, Thomas Kelly, Steve (Michele) Kelly, Ann (Noel) Koeppen and Karen French.

Laura L. Melick was born July 7, 1958, in Cedar Rapids, the beloved daughter of Michael and Marietta Martin Kelly. Laura was a dedicated wife, mother, daughter, sister and a “lifetime” employee of Hy-Vee. Laura enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.

The Melick family would like to thank family and friends as well as the Ghosh Center and Mercy Hospice. Your love and support during this time has been greatly appreciated.
