Meldine “Ruth” (Caswell) Walshire, of Anamosa passed away Friday, May 24, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, IA following a brief illness.
Ruth was born November 13, 1935, in Anamosa, IA. She was the daughter of the late James and Fern Caswell. She married Lewis David Walshire on February, 4, 1953, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Ruth and Dave have been living in Anamosa in the home they built since 1962.
Ruth is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Dave, their children, Yvonne (Vonnie) Bunce, of Cedar Rapids, Linda Pollard, of Lake Worth, FL, John Walshire of Iowa City, IA, and Brenda Walshire of Coralville, IA; her siblings, Wilma Archibald of Central City and James Caswell of Amber, IA, as well as seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Fern Caswell, and her sister, Dorothy Carson.
Ruth was a naturally creative person, a trait she passed onto her children and grandchildren. She spread joy through her cake decorating, knitting, and porcelain dolls. These keepsakes will always be treasured.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
