Melcher, Yvonne B.
Yvonne B. Melcher, 73, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at Heritage Nursing Home following a short illness. Private family services. Burial: Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Council Bluffs. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Yvonne left behind two sons, David and Alan Melcher, both of Cedar Rapids; one brother, Ross Peters of Polomona, Calif.; and two sisters, Suzanne Arnez of Texas, and Joyce White of California.
Her husband, Vernon C. who passed away in 2007; parents, Darlene Peters and Wayne Major; and brother, Richard Utter, preceded her in death.
Yvonne was born Feb. 27, 1936, in Norfolk, Neb., the daughter of Wayne Major and Darlene Figge. Yvonne lived in Los Angeles, Calif., during the 1940s and Omaha, Neb., during the 1950s. During this time she worked at St. Joseph's Hospital. She married Vernon C. Melcher on Nov. 17, 1959 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. They moved to Cedar Rapids in 1966.
Yvonne will be greatly missed by her family. She was all they had and their love for her will go on forever.
