Melba E. Davison, 97, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 4, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 2202 Forest Dr. SE, Cedar Rapids, with a visitation one hour prior. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.
Melba was born Oct. 20, 1925, in Newhall, Iowa, the daughter of John and Clara (Warner) Paulsen. She graduated from Newhall High School. Melba was united in marriage to Donald G. Davison on Oct. 2, 1953, in Cedar Rapids. She was a bookkeeper for Carl Hauskins dairy business and then a stay-at-home mother. Melba enjoyed reading, gardening and traveling. She was a lifelong fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs. Above all else, Melba loved spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her children, Jim (Teresa) Davison of Fairmont, Minn., Jean Davison of Baileys Harbor, Wis., and Bob Davison of Marion, Iowa; grandchildren, Chris (Laura) Davison, Scott (Leah) Davison and Katie (Andy) Whaley; great-grandchildren, Calvin and Lila Davison, Emma and Claire Davison, and Edwin and Emerett Whaley; brother, Robert (Dottie) Paulsen of Newhall; and sister-in-law, Dona Miskimen of Moundridge, Kan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Clara Paulsen; husband, Donald Davison; and siblings, Lloyd Paulsen, Ruth McSweeney, Marlys Taylor, Arlo Paulsen and Elroy Paulsen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Bethany Lutheran Church or Hospice of Mercy.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the caring staff members at Terrace Glen Village Assisted Living and Mercy Hospice of Cedar Rapids.
