Meineke, Geraldine
Geraldine Meineke, 90, died Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at her home surrounded by her girls. Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday June 1, at Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. Pastor Mike Williams will officiate at the service. Friends may call starting at 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Olin Cemetery in Olin.
Surviving are her daughters, Mary (Robert) Thomas of Quasqueton, Judy Hanken of Maquoketa, Donna Evans of Las Vegas and Diane (Clayton) Hollingshead of Onslow; three sisters, Alberta Fairley of Onslow, Doris Harness of Mechanicsville and Shirley (Andy) Borntrager of Council Bluffs; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leland; a sister, Pauline Gamble; and a brother, Everett Boots
Geraldine was born June 5, 1921, in Mechanicsville, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Bertha Haynor Boots. She was a 1939 graduate of Mechanicsville High School. On Nov. 7, 1942, Geraldine and Leland Meineke were united in marriage in Morley. The couple farmed for over 25 years.
Geraldine enjoyed sewing, baking and working in her garden but the thing she treasured most was the time she was given to spend with her family and friends.
She will be missed dearly by those closest to her.
