Meek, Rex 'Al'
Rex “Al” Meek, 61, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Memorial services: 2 p.m. Monday at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Dan Long.
Survivors include two sisters, Martha (Steve) Long and Mary (Dino) Meek, and two nephews, Shannon (Sandy, Al's special caregiver) Meek and Chad (Michele) Meek, all of Cedar Rapids; and several other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Al was born Jan. 28, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Rex Allen and Phyllis (Robison) Meek Sr. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1966. Al worked in facilities maintenance for the Cedar Rapids School District for 18 years and Paetec for 11 years.
Memorials may be directed to his family.
