McSpadden, Donald

Donald McSpadden, 72, of Cedar Rapids, died at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013. Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Survivors include his children, Brian (Michelle) McSpadden, Sandra (Stephen) Dighton, Ted (Michelle) McSpadden and Rick McSpadden, all of Cedar Rapids, and Scott McSpadden of Baird; sister, Becky McSpadden of Cedar Rapids; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews, Todd Schroeder, Lisa Johnson and Matthew Stout.

Don was born Aug. 31, 1941, in Iowa City, to Donald and Opal McSpadden. He married Janet Hulseberg on Dec. 17, 1961. She died in 1991. He then married Kristine Millhollin on Aug. 29, 1992, in Cedar Rapids. She died in 2012. Don worked for Swiss Valley Farms for over 30 years, retiring in 2000.

Don was a member of the Eagles Club and International Brotherhood of Teamsters. He enjoyed fishing, bingo, the Cubs, and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Most of all he enjoyed the time he spent with family, especially his grandchildren.

The family would like to especially thank the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy for their compassionate care.
