McShane, Dorothy Edwine (Montross)
Dorothy Edwine (Montross) McShane, 98, of Marion, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, after a long illness. Memorial Mass: 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion, by Father Tony Kruse. The family will greet friends one hour before the Mass Saturday at the church. Private Family Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include her children, Robert McShane of Marion, and Martha (Jessie) McCormack of Marion; grandchildren, Michael (Stacey) McShane of Simpsonville, S.C., Kevin McShane of Phoenix, Ariz., Julie (Wayne) Anderson of Cedar Rapids, Mark (Laurie) McCormack of Atkins, Linda (Robert) Mattes of Cedar Rapids, and Brenda (Douglas) Martens of Toddville; great-grandchildren, Thomas and Matthew McShane, Benjamin and Matty McShane, Jason (Emmali) Anderson, Corey Anderson, Colin and Kathleen McCormack, Daniel and Jessica Mattes, and Maxwell and Mitchell Martens; and great-great-granddaughters, Natalie and Chloe Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sons, Dean and Lonnie McShane; three sisters, Mabel and Rilla Lortz and Eileen Shaull; and two brothers, Andrew and Hubert Montross.
Dorothy was born Oct. 11, 1913, in Millersburg, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Sarah (Taylor) Montross. She graduated from Millersburg High School in 1931. Dorothy married Clarence Raymond McShane on Dec. 19, 1932 in Ottawa, Ill., and they were married for 50 years. Clarence died in 1982. Dorothy owned and operated the Hallwood Cafe in Marion for several years, and later worked for Iowa National Mutual Insurance Co., retiring in 1978. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Hospice of Mercy in Dorothy's memory.
