McNeal, Harry Dean
Harry Dean McNeal, 73, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday morning, Aug. 26, 2010, at his home. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at Sharon United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Robert Dagit. Visitation: 9 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. The casket will remain closed. Burial: Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements with Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
He gave 100 percent to every one of his endeavors, including his three-year relentless battle with Myelodysplastic syndrome. Harry is now on his final journey to pursue new projects. May God richly bless all who lightened our burden during this trying time, especially our dear friends, our family and church family, Dr. Kutteh and her fantastic “gang” and Mercy Hospice.
Harry was born Oct. 21, 1936, to Erma and Harry McNeal. On Jan. 6, 1963, he married Karen Baer at Sharon United Methodist Church. They have a daughter, Michele, in Cedar Rapids and a son, David, in Olathe, Kan. Harry retired from the USPS. He was an active member at Sharon United Methodist Church and the Elks Club.
Gregarious by nature, possessing a quick wry sense of humor, and enjoying countless interests, he amassed many friends. Our part of the world will never be the same without our devoted husband, dad and friend.
Please no flowers. Instead, consider a donation to Sharon United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids, Cheyenne Dog Park for his dog pal Louie, or your favorite charity in memory of Harry.
