McNamara, Margaret M.
Margaret M. McNamara, 100, of Independence, died Thursday afternoon, Feb. 23, 2012, at West Village Care Center, Independence. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Catholic Church, Independence, with the Rev. Don Plamondon officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, where a parish vigil service will be held at 7 p.m.
Margaret was born Dec. 12, 1911, in Independence, Iowa, the daughter of Anthony G. and Katharine A. (Fischels) Kayser. She attended St. Joseph's Catholic Schools in Independence. On April 26, 1933, she was married to William E. McNamara. The couple farmed in the Rowley area before their retirement.
She is survived by three children, Jane Ann (Gary) West, Independence, Robert (Patricia) McNamara, Jupiter, Fla., and James (Mary Jo Brennan) McNamara, Dubuque; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William McNamara in 2002; a son, Jerry McNamara; eight brothers, Victor, Bill, Peter, Lawrence, Albert, Joe, Arthur and Leonard Kayser; and three sisters, Cecelia Becker, Sister Jeanne 'D Arc Kayser and Loretta Nie.
