McNabb, David H.
David H. McNabb, 71, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sept. 13, 2011, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha following an extended illness. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Chaplain Deb Black will officiate. A memorial gathering will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Due to recent construction, it is required that visitors to Cedar Memorial enter making a right turn from west bound First Avenue (heading toward downtown).
Survivors include his son, David E. (Evonne) McNabb of Cedar Rapids; his sister, Jackie Carney of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Dawn, Tiffany, Tory and Dillon; his great-grandchildren, Karmyn, Madilyn, Ava and Zavier; as well as a sister-in-law, a niece and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Michele; his parents, Sherman and Frances; and three brothers, Donald, Ronald and Edward.
David Henry McNabb was born July 13, 1940, in Cedar Rapids. He was united in marriage to Michele Carol Hoover on March 5, 1966, in Belle Plaine. She preceded him in death on July 23, 2010. He was employed for 31 years at Torrence Electric as a lift truck mechanic, retiring in 2001.
He was an avid bowler and fisherman. He enjoyed animals, especially his beloved dog, Sasha.
He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, who will be greatly missed by all.
Memorial donations in David's honor may be made to the American Heart Association.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staffs of Cardiologists, L.C. and Hospice of Mercy.
