McMurrin, Sandra June
Sandra June McMurrin, 78, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha following a long illness. Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Teahen Funeral Home, by the Rev. John Louk of Salem United Methodist Church. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday after noon at the funeral home.
Sandra is survived by her daughter, Kathy McMurrin; three sons, Wayne, Mike and Dale McMurrin, all of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Lynette Clark of Cedar Rapids, Jennifer Drahos of Washington, D.C., and Courtney and Shane McMurrin of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Marsha (Dennis) Bradley and Maneta Hunter of Cedar Rapids; and brother, David (Gail) Baker of Asheville, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Richard.
Sandra was born Sept. 1, 1934, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of John and Alice (Chandler) Baker. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1952. She married Richard McMurrin on May 30, 1953, at Salem United Methodist Church.
Sandra's first job was as a telephone operator. She then went on to work at Quaker Oats and Jackson School. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir.
Sandra loved playing solitaire, solving word find puzzles and listening to Frank Sinatra.
