McMullen, Adelya 'Dee' E.
Adelya “Dee” E. McMullen, 100, died Sunday, June 12, 2011, at Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center. Services: 11 a.m. today Teahen Funeral Home by the Rev. Craig Bex. Private Burial: Forest Cemetery, Oskaloosa. Friends may visit from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Dee is survived by three grandchildren, Mike Craver of Hiawatha, Michelle Koskinen of Colorado, and Diana Peterson of Indiana; sister, Lucile Gravitt of Oskaloosa; son-in-law, Edmund Thomas of Kansas City, Mo.; and nieces, Lonnie Ballou and Ann Wilson.
Her husband, J.J. McMullen (1966); son, Jack Mikesell; daughter, Barbara Thomas; and two sisters, Ida Martin formerly of Picher, Okla., and Gloria Ballou formerly of Oskaloosa, preceded Dee in death.
Adelya E. Burt was born Nov. 18, 1910, in Bussey, daughter of O.L. and Myrtle Newton Burt. She married J.J. McMullen, on April 15, 1945, in Oskaloosa. She worked for Paramount Halmark Pharmacy as a retail clerk until she was 83 years old. Dee was the oldest living member of Edgewood Family Fellowship Church.
Dee was a cat lover, especially Siamese cats. Dee was a people person who was loved by many and will be missed.
