Catherine A. McManigal
Catherine A. (Phenis) McManigal, 93, died Dec. 5, 2011, at Nye Pointe Care Center in Fremont, Neb. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont, Neb. Burial will be at a later date at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Catherine was born Aug. 3, 1918, in Bertha, Minn., to Charles and Florence (Hall) Phenis. Catherine graduated from high school in Sioux City, Iowa, and married Randall McManigal there on April 3, 1940. The McManigals moved to Cedar Rapids in 1952. Catherine worked as a statistical clerk for Iowa National Mutual Insurance Co. in Cedar Rapids for 29 years, retiring in 1981. Catherine also lived in New Port Richey, Fla., before moving to Fremont, Neb., in 2002.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Randall; four brothers, Lorin, Charles, Robert and Donald Phenis; two sisters, Margaret Lambert and Natalie Erickson; and sister-in-law, Catherine MacNichol.
She was well loved by friends and family, and enjoyed many interests, including being a lifelong fan of Hawkeye football.
