McMahon, Josephine McDermott (Mrs. Paul)
Josephine McDermott (Mrs. Paul) McMahon, 75, of Des Moines, died at noon Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, at Legacy Point, Waukee.
She was born May 13, 1935, on a farm in Petersville, to Cleo and Helena (Beitenman) McDermott. Josephine married Paul McMahon in 1959 and raised their family in Cottage Grove, Minn. They moved to Surfside Beach, S.C., in 1998 and lived there until moving to Des Moines in May of this year.
Surviving members of Josephine McMahon's immediate family are her husband, Paul; children, Colleen (Mike) Crawley of Zimmerman, Minn., Michael (Joy) McMahon of Apex, N.C., Pauline (Christopher) Cimaszewski of Babylon, N.Y., and Dennis (Christine) McMahon of Des Moines; 11 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sisters, Mary Ryan of Cedar Rapids, Teresa McDermott of Orland Hills, Ill., and Ann Barrios of San Francisco, Calif.
Preceding Josephine in death were her parents and siblings, Jean McDermott, Leonard McDermott, Lois Sterenchuk, Helene Kane and William McDermott.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, with a rosary at 5 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy for Josephine will be held at 11 a.m. Frida in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Petersville, with the Rev. Father Scott Lemaster presiding. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
