McLaud, Paula
Paula McLaud, 85, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2011, at Living Center West. Funeral services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Ivan Nienhaus. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with a rosary at 6 p.m. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her daughter, Rose Douglas; brothers, John (Josephine) Arenas and Joe (Lydia) Arenas; and sister, Anita (Robert) Sells, all of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great- grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
Paula was born Sept. 2, 1925, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of John and Maria (Lopez) Arenas. She married Fred E. McLaud on Oct. 16, 1946, in Cedar Rapids. She worked as an elevator operator at Guaranty Bank and as a housekeeper at Coe College.
Paula was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and volunteered with American Red Cross Gray Lady Service. She enjoyed spending time with her family and often prepared and shared meals, making sure no one went away hungry.
Paula will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Wayne and Fred; brother, Jesse Arenas; and sisters, Frances Bopp and Eva Rodriguez.
A memorial fund has been established.
