McKenna Lane Terrington, 15, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at Children's National Medical
Center in Washington, D.C., following complications from a bone marrow transplant. Services: 10:30
a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, by the Rev. Brad Brown. Friends may visit with the family from 2 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at Teahen Funeral Home and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.
McKenna is survived by her parents, Christopher and Kathy, and sister, Alexa, of Cedar Rapids; paternal grandparents, David (Jean) Terrington of Nottingham, England; maternal grandparents, James (Hiroko) Welsh of Toddville; four uncles, Michael Terrington of Nottingham, England, Jimmy (Ravina) Welsh and Tommy (Jennifer) Welsh, both of Los Angeles, Randy Bramsen of Marion and Anita Bramsen of Marion; and many cousins.
McKenna Lane was born April 20, 1998, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Christopher and Kathy (Welsh) Terrington. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, attended Trinity Lutheran School and was attending Jefferson High School, going into her sophomore year.
McKenna enjoyed dance and was a second degree Black Belt in Taekwondo. She was involved in the
Jefferson student council, service club, her church youth group and enjoyed volunteering and helping
others.
McKenna was beautiful on the outside, but her real beauty was within. She was a genuine and caring person with a strong faith, who made good friends with ease and faced overwhelming adversity with astounding courage. McKenna's strength and resilience throughout her treatment was heroic to all who witnessed it, her spirit was unbreakable; she was a true fighter. She always stayed positive throughout her ordeal and never complained, laughing and bringing a smile to others, as she had her whole life.
McKenna had a warm, infectious smile and a tender heart and sincerely loved her family and friends. She had a truly wonderful soul and will always be deeply loved and forever in our hearts.
