McHenry, Lois Joan Taylor
Lois Joan Taylor McHenry, 79, of Coralville, died suddenly Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009, at home of a heart attack. Lois chose to be cremated. Memorial services will be held this spring.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Domestic Violence Project or The Crisis Center.
Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City is handling arrangements.
Lois was born July 14, 1930, in Farmersville, Ohio, the daughter of Walter and Corrine (Killian) Taylor. She grew up and graduated from high school in Lewisburg, Ohio. Lois married Leslie E. McHenry in 1953. She received her teaching degree from Miami University in Ohio in the early 1950s. She taught junior high school in Ohio until returning to college to receive her RN degree from Clark State College (formerly Clark Technical College) in 1982. She worked as a registered nurse until her retirement in 1994.
Survivors include her children, Ann Wieland of Coralville, Jill VanBuskirk (Greg) of Sioux City, and Mark McHenry (Julie) of Madison, Ohio; three grandchildren, Garrett, Rachel, and Ross; three brothers, Dr. John Taylor of Tulsa, Okla., Walter Taylor (Sheila) of Cumberland, Ohio, and Gene Taylor (Donna) of Delaware; and several nieces and nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents.
