McGuirk, Benny 'Binnie' L. Sr.

Benny “Binnie” L. McGuirk Sr., 69, of Guttenberg, formerly of Davenport, Durant and Moscow, Iowa, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2013, at the Guttenberg Care Center from stroke related complications. Private services are being handled by Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, Iowa.

Binnie was born Sept. 20, 1944, in Webster County, Mo., the son of Jimmie “Wendell” and Bessie “Pauline” (Stroud) McGuirk. He attended Linwood School between Davenport and Buffalo, Iowa. He married Delrose Heald in 1965. They later divorced. He then married Rose Teachau. They also divorced.

Binnie worked in foundries all of his life, first with John Deere and later with Russaloud in Durant. He loved to fish and watch TV.

He is survived by two daughters, Michelle McGuirk of Bluegrass and Kristen McGuirk of Davenport; a son, Binnie McGuirk Jr. of Blue Grass; a grandson, Baily McGuirk; two sisters, Dorothy Ehlts-Wille of Garnavillo and Norma (Don) Bulen of Rock Island, Ill.; one half sister, Reita (James) Mattis of Peoria, Ariz.; one half brother, Clarence (Sally) Chapman of Walcott; and a stepsister, Ruby Hurt of Centerville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a stepsister, Pauline Cowan.
