McGuire, Robert J.
Robert J. McGuire, 86, of Dyersville, Iowa, died Monday, April 15, 2013, at OakCrest Manor, Dyersville, Iowa.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a vigil service will be held at 4 p.m.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2013, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Noah Diehm will officiate.
Bob was born Sept. 26, 1926, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Oliver and Leticia (Donovan) McGuire. He married Donna J. Tauke on June 12, 1948, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville. Together they farmed in the Holy Cross area for 23 years. He also worked briefly for the Ertl Company and owned McGuire's IOCO for 13 years, retiring in 1986.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; four children, Rory (Mary) of Central City, Iowa, Kate McGuire of Marion, Iowa, Peggy (Dan) Bockenstedt of Evansville, Wis., and Ann (Charlie) Huberty of Dyersville; six grandchildren, Josh (Nicky) McGuire, Emily (Nate) Haan, Libby (fiancé Phil Rodrigues) McGuire, Jake and Kellie Huberty, and Taylor Bockenstedt; five great-grandchildren, Tyler, Jenna and Grady McGuire, and Kayleigh and Kenzie Haan; in-laws, Joe Benzer of Cedar Rapids, and Dave (Alice) Tauke, Marv (Leona) Tauke, and Marge Torrance, all of Dyersville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jim; sister, Dorothy Benzer; and many brothers and sisters-in-law.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Ellen Kennedy Living Center and Oakcrest Manor.
