McEowen, Frank O.
Frank O. McEowen, 85, of Willow Gardens in Marion, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center following a short illness. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Saturday at All Saints Catholic Church, by the Rev. John Flaherty. Burial: St. John Cemetery. A vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Teahen Funeral Home, where friends may visit from 5 to 7 p.m.
Survivors include four sons. Jerry (Linda) of Marion, Terry (Rick Polinek) of Minneapolis, and Larry (Jenny) and Gary, both of Cedar Rapids; sisters, Betty Gerhold of Chalmetti, La., and Donna Pratt of Fayetteville, Tenn.; two grandsons, David (Alissa) and Brandon; one granddaughter, Stacy (Ryan); and five great-grandchildren.
His wife of 42 years, Prudence, and two brothers, Ardis Herring and John McEowen Jr., preceded Frank in death.
Frank O. McEowen was born Dec. 27, 1927, in Tipton, to John and Cecil Herring McEowen. He married Prudence Pusateri in Cedar Rapids in 1950 at Immaculate Conception. Frank served his country in the Navy during World War II. He worked at J.T. Ure Tile Co., the first tile company in Cedar Rapids, as a ceramic tile setter. Frank was a member of Brick Layers Union Local 3 Iowa for 50 years and All Saints Catholic Church.
He had an infectious sense of humor and liked to play cards.
