McElligott, Joseph C.

Joseph C. McElligott, 50, of 1175 F Ave., Marion, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, following a long illness. Services: 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion, by Father Rod Allers. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Marion, with a vigil service beginning at 6:30 p.m. Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Ryan, Iowa.

Survivors include his mother, Agnes; three brothers, Dennis (Kathy) McElligott of Cedar Rapids, David (Jill) McElligott of Bothell, Wash., and Mark McElligott of Marion; and two nieces, Erin and Bailey McElligott.

He was preceded in death by his father, Francis J. McElligott.

Joseph was born Feb. 9, 1959, the son of Francis J. and Agnes M. McElligott in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from Marion High School in 1977. He worked as a plumber and enjoyed the Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos and Iowa Hawkeyes.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Joseph's name.
