McEleney, Donald A.
Donald A. McEleney, 86, of Clinton, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at the Alverno Health Care Facility. According to his wishes his body was donated to the University of Iowa College of Medicine. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Prince of Peace Parish in Clinton. The family will receive those wishing to express condolences at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m., one hour before the mass. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Memorials may be given to Prince of Peace Parish or Mercy Hospice.

Donald was born on Dec. 28, 1924, in Clinton, the son of Leo P. and Elsie (Bonnemann) McEleney. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from 1943 to 1946. He later received his Doctor of Medicine degree with a concentration in Dermatology from the University of Iowa in 1951. He served his residency in Dermatology at the University of Iowa. He maintained a private practice in dermatology in Cedar Rapids for over 25 years, retiring to Clinton in 1984. Donald was a member of Prince of Peace Parish. He enjoyed traveling, cooking and the opera.
Donald is survived by his brother, Warren McEleney of Fulton, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Sharon McEleney of Sun City West, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews including, Maureen McEleney of Fulton, Ill., Kevin McEleney of Ishpeming, Mich., Darin McEleney of North Olmstead, Ohio, Kelly Schemers-McEleney of Litchfield, Ariz., James McEleney Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz., Thomas McEleney of Clinton, John McEleney of Fulton, Ill., Anne Hargrave of Iowa City, Daniel McEleney of Clinton, Edward McEleney of Iowa City, and William McEleney of Naperville, Ill.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jim.
