McDowell, Dennis Leroy
Dennis Leroy McDowell, 59, of Cedar Rapids, passed away suddenly Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at his home. Services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Believers of Grace Church, 8600 C Ave., Marion.
Dennis is survived by his special friend, Carol Jones; children, Jamie Joslin of Cedar Rapids, Rhonda (Vince) Dryer of Coggon, Lorretta McDowell of Central City, and Charles McDowell of Marion; sisters, Carol Harris of Cedar Rapids and Shirley Grulkey of Iowa City; brother, Kenneth Grulkey of Cedar Rapids; half brothers, Mike Simons and Jim Grulkey; two grandchildren, Austin McGill and Broden Dryer; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father John William; foster dad, Larry (Smoky) Moore; and his brother, Mark Simmons.
Dennis was born Dec. 4, 1952, to John William and Loretta (Stonking) McDowell in Iowa City. He worked for many years in the Iron Union as an iron worker. He enjoyed camping, riding his Harley and good old family fun.
