McDougall, Dorothy J.
Dorothy J. McDougall, 81, of Bloomfield, formerly of Nora Springs, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at the Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield, Iowa. In honoring Dorothy's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and a graveside service will be held in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be donated to the Humane Society of Northern Iowa, 2700 S. Birch Dr., Mason City, IA 50401.
Dorothy Jean McDougall, daughter of John and Ruth (Alta) Waline was born Jan. 7, 1931, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She attended Roosevelt and McKinley schools in Cedar Rapids and married Jack R. McDougall on Aug. 20, 1948, before graduating in 1949.
The two couple met when Dorothy was working at St. Luke's Hospital and he was going to Coe College. They moved to Wyoming, Iowa, where Jack took a teaching job for three years. Following this time, they moved to Mason City where Jack continued teaching at Monroe Junior High while Dorothy worked as a clerk for over 30 years at Larson China in Mason City, later retiring. Jack died in November 2007.
Dorothy enjoyed bowling, needle-pointing, gardening, cooking and taking care of her family.
She is survived by her two sons, Corey (Charlotte) McDougall, Bloomfield, and Kevin (Nancy) McDougall, Clinton; a sister, Helen (Skip) Freeman; a brother, Roger (Pat) Waline; grandchildren, Olivia, Patrick, Lexi, Brooke, Amanda and Andrew; two great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jack.
