McDermott, Petronilla F. 'Pat'
Petronilla F. “Pat” McDermott, 91, longtime resident of Coralville, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at her home.
Petronilla Frances Konrad was born April 30, 1918, in Milo, Iowa, the daughter of John F. and Anna E. (Dieters) Konrad. Following graduation from Ottumwa High School, she married Edward J. McDermott on July 4, 1938, in Ottumwa. For many years she spent her time raising her children, tending to their home, caring for her large gardens and many flowers. But most important in her life was her family, especially as the grandchildren and great-grandchildren came along, what joy they brought her! She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 721 in Coralville.
Her family includes her two daughters and their husbands, Jane and Robert Corso and Colleen and Maynard “Whimp” Rogers, all of Coralville; five grandchildren, Chris Stancel (Doug), Tony Corso, David Corso (Brenda), Gary Rogers (Diane) and Diane Madsen (John); and eight great-grandchildren, Gitana and Ryley Stancel, Amber Corso, Ryan and Collin Rogers, and Emily, Neil and Mallory Petronilla Madsen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ed; one brother and two sisters.
Family services have taken place through Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in her memory to Iowa City Hospice.
