McCune, Margaret E.
Margaret E. McCune, 78, of 193 Jacolyn Drive NW, Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, April 17, 2011, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Robert Dagit. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Mike (Cathy Wood) Lorimer, Debbie (Ron) Bentley, Bill (Diane Stoltz) Lorimer and Kelley (Gary) Palmer all of Cedar Rapids, Dianne (Tom) Dahl of Peoria, Ariz., Rich (Julie) Lorimer of Springville, and Sherri Lorimer and Jeff Lorimer, both of Cedar Rapids; 19 great-nieces and nephews; and 13 great-great-nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are her sister, Jean (Gerhardt) Moldenhauer of LaCrescent, Minn.; and sisters-in-law, Linda Lorimer, Teresa Keister, Edna Pesek and Luella Lorimer, all of Cedar Rapids.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents; sister, Marilyn McCune (2004); and brothers, Jim Lorimer (2011) and John Lorimer (1993).
Born June 14, 1932, in Cedar Rapids, Margaret was the daughter of James Lorimer and Lillian (Voorhies) Lorimer. She graduated from Wilson High School. On July 10, 1954, she was united in marriage to Robert McCune in St. Patrick's Church. He died Feb. 17, 1978. Margaret worked for Square D for 25 years, retiring in 1985.
Margaret was an active member in the Sharon United Methodist Church and belonged to the VFW Auxiliary. Her greatest joy was her family and loved hosting holiday gatherings. She also loved to cook and bake for others to enjoy. Other joys were morning coffee with her friends at Cedar Village, ceramics and the ceramic business, gambling, bowling, going out to eat, long rides and trips and her pet dogs.
