McCune, Bonnie L.
Bonnie L. McCune, 58, of Iowa City, died unexpectedly from an apparent heart attack Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at home. Her family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City. A Celebration of Bonnie's life will begin at 6 p.m.
Instead of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be directed to The Bonnie L. McCune Memorial Fund.
Bonnie was born March 1, 1954, in Iowa City, the daughter of Raymond and Dorothy (Reese) Fuhrmeister. Growing up in Iowa City, Bonnie graduated from Iowa City High School in 1972. She married David McCune Sept. 21, 1974 in Iowa City.
Bonnie began working at the First Avenue Hy-Vee Food Store in the meat department and 25 years later transferred to the Waterfront Hy-Vee as scanning coordinator for five years. Bonnie then worked at the Johnson County Treasurer's Office, and for the past eight years was working for Rockwell-Collins in Coralville.
She loved everything Hawkeye and according to Dave, had established a large collection of Hawkeye T-shirts that took up more than her fair share of the closet. You could always count on Bonnie greeting you with a huge smile and a giggle and was a best friend to many.
