McCullough, Nelda
Shirt Factory and Watkin's Dime Store in Anamosa.
Nelda and Robert McCullough were united in marriage on May 17, 1943, in Canton, Mo. They were childhood sweethearts since the second grade. Other than the three years they spent in California during World War II while Bob was serving in the Navy as a navy medic, Nelda and Bob lived in Anamosa their whole lives. She had many fond memories of owning and operating The Anamosa Furniture Mart with her husband, Bob for many years. They built their A-frame home behind The Furniture Mart in 1976. During their retirement years, Nelda and Bob enjoyed vacationing with their special friends, Jack and Nadine Fahey in Hot Springs, Ark., where they loved to attend the horse races at Oaklawn. She was a loving wife and mother and grandma (Grandma Culla). She enjoyed spending her time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a lifetime member of the Anamosa Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the Mother's Club.
A special thanks to the staff at Mercy Medical Center for the care they provided Nelda through the last couple weeks. Especially ICU nurse's Anne and Rachel for their loving care.
Nelda will be greatly missed by those that knew her.
Rest in peace.
Condolences may be sent to family and Robert McCullough, 182 Dubuque Rd., Springville, IA 52336.
