McCliment, Genie M.
Genie M. McCliment, 76, of Iowa City, died Friday. Aug. 5, 2011 at her home from an accidental fall.
Visitation will be held Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lensing Funeral Service in Iowa City. Services will begin Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private.

Genie was born July 2, 1935, in Detroit, the daughter of Daniel and Eugenia (Gunville) Driscoll.
Growing up in Detroit, Genie graduated from St. Rose of Lima High School in 1953, and in 1955 received her degree from Jennings Memorial Hospital School of Radiologic Technology. She worked for the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics as a Radiologic Technologist from 1972 until her retirement in 1998.
She married Edward McCliment Sept. 8, 1956, in Detroit. The couple moved to Iowa City from Schenectady, N.Y., 47 years ago.
A bookworm all her life, Genie fulfilled her passion for writing when she received her BA in English from the University of Iowa in 1995.
She was a member of NN Club and University Book Club.
Genie is survived by her husband Ed; daughters, Nancy (Tim) Korpela of Windsor Heights, Iowa and Lisa (Brian) Cassidy of Bellingham, Wash.; brothers and sisters, Bernard Driscoll of Desert Hot Springs, Calif., and Mary McCliment of Naples, Fla.; and grandchildren, Hannah Korpela, Hillary Korpela, Miranda Baxter-McCliment, Anna Cassidy and Liam Cassidy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Catherine McCliment; and a brother, Danny.
