McCauley, Jean I. (Snow)
Jean I. (Snow) McCauley, 81, loving mom and friend to all, passed away, Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center. For the past two years, she struggled with congestive heart failure accompanied by kidney disease. Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. David Young. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Inurnment: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Patsy (Tom) Smith of St. Joseph, Mo., Kris (Andy) Kessell, Mike McCauley, David (Robyn) McCauley and Bill (Kathy) McCauley, all of Cedar Rapids; a proud grandma (G-Ma) to nine grandchildren, Wendy (Steve) Ware, Shannon Fuller, Kyle Kessell, Nichol Kessell, Jacob Kessell, Matthew (Chrissy) McCauley, Ellen McCauley, Benjamin McCauley and William McCauley; and five great-grandchildren, Taylor and Alex Ware, J.J, Jossy and Brody Fuller.
Also surviving are her brother, Bob Snow; niece, Judy (Walt) Hickey; and sister-in-law, Josephine Snow.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Earl and Horace Snow; and sisters-in-law, Kate and Rita Snow.
Jean was born on Nov. 9, 1929, the daughter of Elmer and Helen (Hayward) Snow in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A graduate from Roosevelt High School and Cedar Rapids Business College, she married Roswell “Ozzie” McCauley on Sept. 4, 1951. They were married for 13 years.
Jean worked for W.F. Woolworth while raising five children on her own. After attending the Cedar Rapids Business College, she went to work for Job Service of Iowa, working in the WIN Program helping many others to get a fresh start in life. She retired after 25 years of service.
Jean loved her family, pretty flowers, birds at the feeder, working crossword puzzles and playing scrabble. A Green Bay Packers fan, she also enjoyed going out to eat, holidays and people. She had a generous heart and befriended all. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved mom.
