McCann, Martha l.
Martha L. McCann, 94 of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Coralville, died Saturday, May 5, 2012, in Tucson at the home of her daughter with whom she had been living with for the past seven years. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 11, at the First Presbyterian Church in Iowa City, with the Rev. Gary Burnett officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens in Iowa City. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Rev. John D. McCann memorial fund through the Presbytery of Southeastern Iowa.

Martha Lucile McCreery was born Aug. 23, 1917, in Ray, Ind., the daughter of Rev. Elbert and Hannah (McLean) McCreery. Following graduation from high school, she attended and graduated from Muskingum College with a Bachelor of Science degree. She later received her M.A. degree from the University of Iowa. Martha was united in marriage to the Rev. John D. McCann on April 18, 1946, in New Concord, Ohio. The couple and their family moved to Coralville in 1966, when at this time she began a teaching career with the Iowa City school district that spanned nearly 20 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Iowa City and also the National Education Association.
Her family includes her two children, Deborah McCann of Tucson, Ariz., and the Rev. David McCann (Hannah) of Ada, Okla.; seven grandchildren, Rebecca Sanchez, Cassandra Overholt (Jalon Adrianson) and Sarah Overholt, all of Tucson, and John D. III, Rachel, Samuel and Carolyn of Ada; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John in 1986; their son, John D. McCann Jr.; four brothers; and two sisters.
